The Beginnings of Eden & June
A letter from our Founder, CEO & Creative Director, Chiara Garcia
I was barely seventeen and fresh out of college when the idea first hit me.
I had just made the
craziest biggest decision of my life (you got it, I dropped out), and pushing all the fear aside all I felt was excitement for all the adventures I was bound to have. I wanted to explore life’s possibilities, to connect with local creatives who would understand my creative urges and unconventional dreams, to take photographs & write with my heart everyday. It all felt simple.
Until reality hit me and made me see how much of a manual struggle it really is to connect and collaborate with creatives or to get involved with happenings in the first place, especially when you’re still starting out on your creative journey. And worse, if you’re an introvert – which most creatives are, apparently.
Somehow I figured my way through it – love, courage and tenacity as my not-so-secret superpowers.
But it was when I was a freelance photographer & writer for over two years that I found the missing piece to Manila’s creative scene — an established, family-like community where fellow creatives can constantly come together, share conversations, inspire, support, encourage and collaborate with each other.
This is the gap we want to fill.
Our biggest dream is to create a centralized space, and essentially a community of like-minded, free-spirited, creative individuals who constantly connect, converse, collaborate and come home with more passion to create more ♡
It’s a long shot and it’s definitely going to take quite some time. But there’s nothing that genuine intent paired with everyday determination can’t do. We will get there, and we promise to make the journey hella amazing, not only for the Eden & June team, but for all the rest of you, our family, our community, the only reason why we’re doing what we’re doing every single day.
